The shift will be 6:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday and some Saturdays
50+ hours per week
The primary duties of the forklift operator are (1) loading and unloading product on the back dock, (2) putting processed bales into stock or loading directly onto trailers for loads, (3) monitoring bale weights, (4) executing housekeeping duties, and (5) active participation in the Health and Safety Programs. Forklift certification is necessary.
Loading and unloading responsibilities include:
Loading trailers with the proper loading configurations required for the different grades of material.
Unloading skidded, baled, and miscellaneous materials from trailers.
Prioritizing the workload to keep a steady flow of material moving in and out of the plant while satisfying customer needs (i.e. balancing customer trailer needs, time requirements, etc.)
Communicate and work with the skid steer operator due to shared work space and responsibilities (unloading loose loads on back docks, staging materials to the upper and lower pads, and determining priorities on baling various material types).
Monitor customer movement in the pad, dock, and in the plant to maximize safe conditions for both employees and customers.
Proper and safe use of trailer jacks, dock locks and levelers while unloading/loading.
Trailer inspections and all paper work pertinent to the unloading process turned in on time and accurate.
Misc. Responsibilities include:
Equipment maintenance – Daily maintenance check performed, paperwork filled out and turned in. Operator must blow out the engine and radiator daily, and is responsible for overall cleanliness of the cab. If cleaning materials are needed see maintenance.
Assist with changing wire on wire tie machine.
Equipment breakage or in need of repair – fill out a maintenance request form and contact maintenance.
Housekeeping assignment – upper and lower pads, loading docks, and the main storage area in the plant.
