Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pipe Cutter to join our team. The Pipe Cutter will be responsible for precisely cutting pipes to specified lengths and measurements for various construction, plumbing, or manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate will have experience working with various cutting tools, including pipe cutters, saws, and power tools, and will have a strong understanding of safety protocols and quality control in pipe fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cutting Pipes: Use pipe cutting tools (manual and power) to cut pipes made of various materials (such as steel, PVC, copper, or aluminum) to required sizes as per project specifications.
- Measurement and Layout: Measure and mark pipe lengths using measuring tape, ruler, calipers, or other tools to ensure accurate cuts and alignments.
- Quality Control: Inspect cut pipes for accuracy, smooth edges, and conformance to project requirements. Ensure all cuts meet safety and quality standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain cutting tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance and report any issues or malfunctions.
- Safety: Adhere to all safety regulations and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Follow established safety protocols to minimize risks of injury and accidents.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including plumbers, fabricators, and construction workers, to ensure smooth workflow and project completion.
- Documentation: Keep accurate records of pipe cutting measurements, materials used, and any issues encountered during the cutting process.
- Cleanup: Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the proper disposal of pipe cuttings and debris.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Previous experience in pipe cutting or a related field (e.g., plumbing, manufacturing, construction) is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Ability to operate manual and power pipe cutting tools (e.g., pipe saws, band saws, rotary cutters, etc.).
- Attention to Detail: Strong ability to follow precise measurements and specifications.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physical labor, including lifting heavy pipes and standing for extended periods.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and commitment to workplace safety practices, including the use of PPE and safe tool operation.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues with cutting tools and adapt to different materials or cutting techniques as needed.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Vocational training or certifications in pipefitting, welding, or a related field is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training in pipefitting, welding, or related technical fields.
- Experience with different types of piping materials (PVC, CPVC, steel, copper, etc.).
- Familiarity with industrial-grade pipe cutting machinery.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift and carry pipes and equipment (up to [XX] lbs).
